Some lessons learned in life:

Never under any circumstances take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

If you have to identify, in one word, the reason why the human race has not achieved, and never will achieve, its full potential, that word would be "meetings".

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness".

You should not confuse your career with your life, because if you have a career that probably means you have no life.

No matter what happens... somebody will find a way to take it too seriously.

"The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that, deep down inside, we ALL believe that we are above average drivers.

J.D. Power and Associates Reports: 2010 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study
Twenty-five of 36 vehicle brands have improved in long-term dependability in 2010, compared with their performance in 2009, continuing a steady trend of industry-wide improvement. However, for some of these brands, consumer perceptions have not kept pace with their actual performance, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2010 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study.

Auto Color Supply Honored as PPG Platinum Distributor of the Year
PPG has named Auto Color Supply, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee as its 2009 Platinum Distributor of the Year. The award was presented to Auto Color Supply owner Pat Anderton at the annual Platinum Conference held February 18-21, 2010 at the Green Valley Ranch Resort in Henderson, Nevada.

Congress Questions NHTSA's Effectiveness
The U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce’s Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection recently held a hearing titled, “National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Oversight: The Road Ahead.”

House Judiciary to Review Auto Replacement Parts in Hearing
The U.S. House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary has announced a hearing on Design Patents and Auto Replacement Parts for Monday, March 22, 2010. Chairman John Conyers, D-Mich., will preside over the full committee hearing.

Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner Announces Highest Enrollment in Low Cost Auto Insurance Program in Three Years
California Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner announced that in February, the California Low Cost Auto Insurance Program (CLCA) saw the highest number of enrollees in any one month during the past three years. Poizner urged all Californians affected by the recession to continue considering all other insurance options before dropping auto insurance.

West Virginia to Create Electronic Auto Insurance Verification System
West Virginia lawmakers want to give police and the courts an easy way to verify whether a driver has required liability insurance. The House has approved a measure previously backed by the Senate to instruct the Division of Motor Vehicles to create an electronic insurance verification system that will allow law enforcement and the courts to verify evidence of insurance coverage with insurance companies.

PPG Helps Olympic Bobsledders Win the Gold
PPG Automotive Refinish is pleased to congratulate the USA four-man Olympic bobsled team on winning the gold medal in the recent winter Olympic games held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The victory, achieved in the PPG-painted Bo-Dyn Night Train bobsled, was the first men’s four-man gold medal Americans have earned since the games of 1948.

CCAR Recognizes Pohanka Collision Center of Chantilly as First-Ever 'GreenLink Shop'
The Coordinating Committee For Automotive Repair (CCAR®) announces that Pohanka Collision Center of Chantilly, Va., is the first automotive repair facility in the nation to be recognized as a “GreenLink Shop.” The GreenLink Shop status, an extension of CCAR’s CCAR-GreenLink® Environmental Compliance Assistance Center and S/P2 (Safety and Pollution Prevention) E-learning Program, is designed to promote consumer confidence in local automotive repair facilities’ environmental/safety awareness and stewardship.

ASE Sunsets Some Certification Tests
The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) announced that, effective December 31, 2010, it will no longer offer the Truck Aftermarket Brake Parts (P3), Truck Aftermarket Suspension & Steering (P9), or the Engine Machinist (M-Series) tests as part of its certification program. The last opportunity to take a regular or recertification P3, P9, or Engine Machinist test will be the 2010 Fall testing administration in November, which will extend ASE certification credentials in the affected areas to 2015.

It's no secret that Americans do not get enough sleep. This isn't just a health issue; it's also a public safety issue. Recent studies show that drowsy driving leads to 100,000 accidents in the U.S. each year, more than drunk driving. During a panel discussion at the National Sleep Foundation's Sleep Health and Safety 2010 Conference recently held in Washington, D.C., a Mercedes-Benz executive explained that in order to prevent these accidents and advance safety technology into the future, you must look to the past.
