CCC Total Loss Valuation Process

CCC's total loss valuation process has been the recognized standard in vehicle valuations for nearly 20 years. CCC bases valuations on extensive local market surveys which are updated several times each month. Highly trained vehicle valuators regularly visit over 4,000 used car locations and record the current inventories of vehicles available for sale. Vehicle condition, options and mileage are all carefully recorded along with the market price. In other words, the prices used in CCC valuations are prices for which the dealer would sell the car to a consumer that has had their total loss settled using CCC. The data is then uploaded to a computerized database which is used to create the total loss valuation responses. When a vehicle is totaled, CCC compares the loss vehicle to similar make/model/year vehicles in the database and a comprehensive report is produced which explains the basis of the valuation. Insurers pay a fee for the valuation reports because they reflect the most accurate valuation available and therefore, allow an accurate, fair, and fast settlement with their policyholder. While guidebooks allow for a valuation without the need to pay a fee on each claim, the resulting valuation is not as timely nor as market-specific as a CCC response. Guidebooks also do not provide the extensive back-up documentation of a CCC response. Most CCC valuations include a listing of vehicles for sale in the local market that very nearly match the loss vehicle by year/make/model/options/mileage. This means that in most cases, the consumer can take their settlement check and find a near-exact replacement for their vehicle using the CCC response. Any consumer that has a total loss settled utilizing a CCC response and has questions can call CCC's 800 number listed on the response. Our valuation experts are open to discuss possible need for adjustments if either the consumer or the adjuster has additional information about the loss vehicle. Over 20 million losses have been fairly settled in this manner.
